Signing In.

Well, after a long fought drive, we finally made it. What a trip, I’ll leave it at that. With darkness upon us, we had to seek much guidance from the Rangers who all of which were super friendly. We got in at about 7:55pm just 5 minutes before the park closed, which was not something we had expected. Wow, close call. Luck you could say…
Baxter State Park is definitely the most intense wildlife conservation I have ever been on. No phones or audio devices of any kind are allowed in the park. Everyone, I mean everyone signs in and out. You must register for everything. Parking the car without a clue where to go, we followed park signs that led us to a foot bridge leading up to the ranger station. Yes, another ranger station. This is where you register for a thru-hike of the entire AT. This is when we met Bruce, a friendly guy interested in us at first. We asked a few simple logistical questions and went to sign the register. That is when he asked if we were trying to break a record, we quickly answered no way. Discussing his website, we then brought up that we had one too, and that we were doing this to raise awareness and money for ALS. Later, we found out Bruce lost the two women in his life to ALS, his mom and wife. Our heart goes out to him. Bruce your strength brings us strength. Bruce you are our inspiration, be well.
